Dr. Dennis Luedke
DVM, Practice Owner and Senior Partner
Dr. Luedke’s love of animals was cultivated from his desire to follow in his father’s footsteps. Growing up in the Denver area, he was exposed to veterinary medicine at an early age as his father was a veterinarian and virologist and worked in the arthropod-borne disease research lab in Denver. His fondest memories were of taking care of sick and debilitated animals that his father would bring home from the research facility to get intensive care at the family home.
Education
Dr. Luedke graduated from veterinary school at Colorado State University in 1983 and completed a 1-year internship at Littleton Large Animal Clinic upon graduation. Over the next 7 years, Dr. Luedke worked in a 2-man equine-exclusive ambulatory practice in Mesa, Arizona. This practice was primarily involved in equine reproduction, show horses, and racing thoroughbreds and quarter horses. In 1990 he accepted a position as an associate at Glenwood Veterinary Clinic and became an owner of the practice in 1993. Dr. Luedke is currently the senior partner at GVC.
Background
Following in the family tradition, Dr. Luedke, has 2 wonderful children that have also aspired to be veterinarians. His oldest son, Bret, graduated from CSU in 2011 and is currently the owner of Heritage Equine Clinic in Longmont, CO (www.heritageequine.com). Bret’s wife, Chelsea, is also a veterinarian at the same practice. Dr. Luedke’s younger daughter, Lauren, is currently in an equine surgical residency at Cornell.
Dennis Luedke met his wonderful wife, Gina, in veterinary school and they have been married since 1983. The Luedke clan is heavily involved in horse activities in their spare time. Both his wife and daughter compete in reined horse events. The whole family enjoys pack trips to their family cabin on the flat tops. The rest of the Luedke time is devoted to maintaining their 10 acre farm in Silt, Colorado.
Thirty years of practice as a large animal veterinarian have been very rewarding for Dr. Luedke. He considers it an honor and privilege to be able to work in this profession every day.
