Mary Ellen Roth
I'm a life long horse lover and was a horse owner/rider for 20 years. One of my first horse encounters was hot-walking polo ponies at the Myopia Hunt Club in Hamilton, MA when I was 13. As an adult I discovered Dressage and was hooked. I am grateful I had the opportunity to train with great teachers at the French National Riding School and the Cadre noir of Saumur, France, also in Germany, and in Wellington, FL.
I came to the Roaring Fork Valley for the first time in 2002. Although I have come and gone a few times, this area is the first place I've lived that feels like home. The people, including the horse community, are a big part of my attachment to living here.
I became active with the Horse Council to support their many efforts and to contribute what I can to keep them viable in their efforts to preserve and protect open spaces and public equestrian facilities. Also, as a former teacher, I care about educating the public on equestrian issues. I hope to do more in the way of growing membership and providing resources and information to our community.
