Lisa has been riding and competing in Hunters and Jumpers since childhood. She spent many years riding at Hunter’s Vale in Kansas City and eventually rode at various barns in the Roaring Fork Valley including Cozy Point Ranch. After graduating from Aspen High School, Lisa went to Sweet Briar College in Virginia. During college, she competed on the Intercollegiate Riding team, the Fall Club team and was an active member of the Riding Council. She also participated in the Teachers Assistant program where she studied the “American Forward Seat” under the famous Paul D. Cronin, the 30 year Director of the Sweet Briar College Riding Program.
Lisa discovered her passion for teaching at the H2J Riding Camp in 2000, where she developed her specialization and |
honed her unique skills in working with young first time riders and special needs children. In 2002, Lisa developed her Fundamentals of English riding program, which focuses on classic equitation and teaching a balanced seat. Lisa’s coaching has allowed first time riders to enjoy all level of riding and has taken one dedicated student to 7th place at National Pony Finals.
Lisa volunteers time and riding expertise to the Aspen Youth Experience teen programs, the Roaring Fork Hounds Pony Club, the Colorado Mountain College’s riding classes and the Colorado West Hunter Jumper Association where she has been an active board member and Points Keeper for 8 years.
Lisa was accepted in March 2010 to one of the first classes of the United States Hunter Jumper Association Trainers Certification Program. She is excited to utilize her training from this certification to further develop her riding and training program. She will also be developing our Summer Camp Training Manual for all the riding instructors this summer (2016).
